I am a lifelong jazz player and afficionado. I studied jazz theory and arranging with the great Frank Mantooth at Northern Illinois University. I migrated to Austin, Texas in the mid ‘80s to work in music and technology. I’ve played in many notable Austin bands including Hot Wax, Matchmaker Band, the Gladiators Big Band and the Austin Jazz Band – and have played in shows at the Zach theater company. I currently lead the Motown band Soul Machine as well as the John Groves Jazz Organ Trio. A multi-instrumentalist, I am equally comfortable on piano, organ, guitar and as a singer.
