This I Dig of You – Wynton Kelley

This is absolutely one of my favorite jazz tunes.  This solo is jam packed with classic Wynton Kelly vocabulary.  I believe the reason that this song isn’t played more is that the chart in the original Real Book 2 is un-usable — a hopelessly bad chart.

Another fantastic solo and transcription of it. I love your taste and ability. It would be nice to hear you play. Anything you could recommend to work on the piano chops? such as the David Baker books, How To Play Bebop?

Great job John! And some cool choices: Sonny Clark- one of the great unsung heroes, Tristano was a real visionary . Nice clean transitions and groupings. Right on.

What I want to know is: If the real book done such a bad job o writing the proper chord sequence to This I dig. What are the right chords?

The bad chart is in the original (illegal) real book 2. There is a great chart in the new Hal Leonard Real Book 2.

      Cheers,
      John
